Social Media Advertising

This week's chapter recap is on Chapter 3 "Social Media Marketing Strategy and Social Media Advertising." In this chapter, 10 steps for a good social media marketing strategy are discussed, highlighting key subjects such as identifying a target audience, creating a distribution and content strategy as well as tracking, analyzing and tuning any fine details. Not only does this chapter include social media marketing strategies, but also the world of social media advertising, so let's dive deeper into this topic.

Social media advertising involves seven steps, selecting goals, selecting the target market, selecting platforms, selecting a budget, selecting the ad format, considering the ad funnel and developing the content. I believe the most important of the seven steps are selecting the target market, selecting platforms and selecting a budget. These three steps can potentially make or break one's goal of social media advertising. To properly select a target market, one needs to think of what platforms are most popular for each demographic. For example, most would agree that Facebook is used for an older demographic of adults, ages 30 to 55, while Instagram or Snapchat is used for a younger demographic of adults, ages 18 to 25. Depending on what type of target market one wants to reach will then determine what types of platforms they choose to utilize. "If a proper social media marketing strategy is in place, companies may already have budgets allocated to paid social media activities" (Charello, 2021, section 13). Social media marketing strategies and social media advertising go hand in hand when it comes to having a successful online presence, where one fails the other is not far behind.

Chapter 3 goes on to explain the remainder of the steps, as well as the best practices for social media advertising. If one is struggling to grasp the perfect social media presence for their brand, this chapter is where they need to start. When following the best social media advertising practices such as targeting the right people, considering the most optimal days and times to post and using high-quality and engaging videos and images, one should start to see success and growth of their platforms. To continue developing your social media marketing understanding, stay tuned for next week!

T-Swift Year!

This past weekend, I officially had my last birthday in college. I turned 22 years old this past Friday. While this isn't a milestone birthday like turning 18 or 21, I still wanted to make it memorable. Lucky for me, with my birthday falling on a Friday I had the whole weekend to celebrate.     Friday's typically are very relaxed for me in general because I don't have classes. I woke up to all my family members texting me wishing me a happy birthday. I started the day off by getting ready to go to the gym. I've made going to the gym a big priority in my life. Not only because it helps me feel good about myself, but also because it's something I enjoy. It's always nice going to the gym early in the morning because it's usually empty or only has a few people in it. Luck was on my side because I had an empty gym all to myself. I went about my workout and then headed home to get ready for work. I know what you're thinking, "Hallie, why would you go

Gym Grind

I've never been one to actually workout. All my life, I've been involved with athletics, whether it be basketball, volleyball or cheer, I was always active growing up. Once sports started to get more serious, I decided to stick with volleyball during my time in high school. With summer conditioning, open gym and summer leagues, it's fair to say I was in great shape for my age. Come senior year, I injured my back while playing and was told to stop playing in order for it to heal properly. Deciding to stop playing was one of the hardest decisions I had to make, but I knew if I wanted to continue being active at all I should listen to the doctors and put a pause on my activities. Since then, I tried to stay active in a variety of ways, from walking around campus to running in the gym. It wasn't until this past year that I started to really dedicate myself to the gym.     I was going through a pretty rough breakup and fell out of love with myself. I really didn't l

Back to Reality

All good things must come to an end, break has ended. While break was a week long, it still doesn't feel like we had enough time. From the moment I arrived at home, it had been "go go go." It feels like the only time I truly spend at home is when I'm sleeping each night. Let me take you through where my chaotic week has taken me, starting with Friday when I arrived.     Immediately after unpacking the car, I had to turn right around and pick my mom up from work. My mom had just gotten a new car, so she left it at the house for me to pick her up in. I was nervous driving because it was all so new I didn't want to ruin anything. After getting her from work, we ran to some of our favorite stores: HomeGoods, TJ Maxx and Marshalls. After window shopping and picking up some small items, we ended our night with a pizza from our favorite place, Carmela's. Saturday morning, my brother, mom, dad and myself went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because it was my brot
