Twitter Content Strategies

Twitter is a great platform for businesses to promote their brand. Like Instagram, Twitter also has many tactics to help a business's social media page thrive. These tactics include keeping posts short, having less promotions and more conversations, posting consistently and at optimal times, using Twitter lists and many more. Chapter 6 focuses not only on content strategies for Twitter, but also advertising with Twitter and even success stories.

With tweets, businesses should try and avoid extensive emphasis on promoting products or services. To engage a business' followers, they should create more discussion tweets, rather than direct tweets. This allows for open-ended responses, allowing the business to engage with their followers on a more personal level. Trending topics, company culture and customer stories are great things to tweet about to keep followers involved. While wanting to create conversation with their followers, businesses should keep in mind the post length. Twitter automatically sets a limit of 140 characters for their posts. Although 140 characters is the limit, staying around 100 or fewer characters is best. Businesses should provide a clear and concise message in as little words as possible. Although a business may be able to produce a concise tweet, they must also keep in mind the time frame of when they are posting. Due to the short "shelf life" of tweets, businesses should be posting around three to seven times per day during the most optimal time to increase views and interactions.

Like Instagram, Twitter can be very confusing to first time users. Understanding all the terms will help a business' social media platform thrive. User error could potentially make or break a platform. To keep a strong presence in the viewers eyes, businesses should focus on exploring new platforms they have not yet experimented with. Twitter is a great platform for trying to be concise and to the point. This can be utilized greatly for businesses trying to get their message out. Stay tuned for next week's post to continue developing your company's business platforms!

  1. Twitter is a key way to distribute different types of content to your audience and I think you did a good job of explaining those in your blog. I liked how you mentioned you should avoid extensive advertising on promoting product and services. I believe this is a very key point because no one likes a business that over advertises. .

T-Swift Year!

This past weekend, I officially had my last birthday in college. I turned 22 years old this past Friday. While this isn't a milestone birthday like turning 18 or 21, I still wanted to make it memorable. Lucky for me, with my birthday falling on a Friday I had the whole weekend to celebrate.     Friday's typically are very relaxed for me in general because I don't have classes. I woke up to all my family members texting me wishing me a happy birthday. I started the day off by getting ready to go to the gym. I've made going to the gym a big priority in my life. Not only because it helps me feel good about myself, but also because it's something I enjoy. It's always nice going to the gym early in the morning because it's usually empty or only has a few people in it. Luck was on my side because I had an empty gym all to myself. I went about my workout and then headed home to get ready for work. I know what you're thinking, "Hallie, why would you go

Gym Grind

I've never been one to actually workout. All my life, I've been involved with athletics, whether it be basketball, volleyball or cheer, I was always active growing up. Once sports started to get more serious, I decided to stick with volleyball during my time in high school. With summer conditioning, open gym and summer leagues, it's fair to say I was in great shape for my age. Come senior year, I injured my back while playing and was told to stop playing in order for it to heal properly. Deciding to stop playing was one of the hardest decisions I had to make, but I knew if I wanted to continue being active at all I should listen to the doctors and put a pause on my activities. Since then, I tried to stay active in a variety of ways, from walking around campus to running in the gym. It wasn't until this past year that I started to really dedicate myself to the gym.     I was going through a pretty rough breakup and fell out of love with myself. I really didn't l

Back to Reality

All good things must come to an end, break has ended. While break was a week long, it still doesn't feel like we had enough time. From the moment I arrived at home, it had been "go go go." It feels like the only time I truly spend at home is when I'm sleeping each night. Let me take you through where my chaotic week has taken me, starting with Friday when I arrived.     Immediately after unpacking the car, I had to turn right around and pick my mom up from work. My mom had just gotten a new car, so she left it at the house for me to pick her up in. I was nervous driving because it was all so new I didn't want to ruin anything. After getting her from work, we ran to some of our favorite stores: HomeGoods, TJ Maxx and Marshalls. After window shopping and picking up some small items, we ended our night with a pizza from our favorite place, Carmela's. Saturday morning, my brother, mom, dad and myself went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because it was my brot
