Fall Break Festivities!

A much-needed break from classes has finally arrived, Fall Break. After Homecoming hits and midterms start to occur, many students, including myself, begin to have a mental decline. For myself, not only was my schoolwork picking up, but also my Zeta work. For Zeta, October is a very important month for us, as it's Breast Cancer Awareness month. We hold many different events throughout the month and I'm in charge of making signs and banners for them. So far, I have made 15 posters and three banners. So one can say I was looking forward to Fall Break so I could relax and not do any work.

My break started with my mom picking me up from school and driving down to Columbus to go to Ikea and the Tanger Outlets. It has become out little tradition to stop at these two places while on break. We like to tell ourselves, "We don't know what we need from Ikea, Ikea tells us what we need." We never know what to expect to find when we go, which is the fun part of it. I get tons of stuff for my room from Ikea that I would've never have thought to buy. After spending too much time and money in Ikea, we head up the road to the Tanger Outlets. Although we enjoy shopping, we mainly just window shopped through the stores to conclude our day. Waking up bright and early the next morning, my mom and I had set plans to go to our local fruit farm. I was so excited to go and grab some pumpkins and donuts to bring back to school with me. We always try to go right when they open, as it gets busier as the day goes on. It was a beautiful day with perfect fall weather. I made my mom take some pictures of me, got our pumpkins and we were on our way.

The rest of the weekend was filled with random errand trips and sleeping in. While being on break was nice, it's good to be back in school. Unlike most, I like being in school. Having a set schedule every day brings structure in my life, which helps me feel as though I'm not just laying around wasting the day. I have tasks I need complete and deadlines to meet. I still have plenty to work on with Zeta, as well as school, to keep me busy. Tell me, is it almost Thanksgiving break yet?

Until next time XOXO,

Hallie

  3. Hallie, I really enjoyed hearing about your fall break! I am a huge fan of fall because I just love going to the pumpkin patch and watching the leaves change color. Also nothing gets better than going shopping. I am a big Target person, so that is the first place I go when I get home!

T-Swift Year!

This past weekend, I officially had my last birthday in college. I turned 22 years old this past Friday. While this isn't a milestone birthday like turning 18 or 21, I still wanted to make it memorable. Lucky for me, with my birthday falling on a Friday I had the whole weekend to celebrate.     Friday's typically are very relaxed for me in general because I don't have classes. I woke up to all my family members texting me wishing me a happy birthday. I started the day off by getting ready to go to the gym. I've made going to the gym a big priority in my life. Not only because it helps me feel good about myself, but also because it's something I enjoy. It's always nice going to the gym early in the morning because it's usually empty or only has a few people in it. Luck was on my side because I had an empty gym all to myself. I went about my workout and then headed home to get ready for work. I know what you're thinking, "Hallie, why would you go

Gym Grind

I've never been one to actually workout. All my life, I've been involved with athletics, whether it be basketball, volleyball or cheer, I was always active growing up. Once sports started to get more serious, I decided to stick with volleyball during my time in high school. With summer conditioning, open gym and summer leagues, it's fair to say I was in great shape for my age. Come senior year, I injured my back while playing and was told to stop playing in order for it to heal properly. Deciding to stop playing was one of the hardest decisions I had to make, but I knew if I wanted to continue being active at all I should listen to the doctors and put a pause on my activities. Since then, I tried to stay active in a variety of ways, from walking around campus to running in the gym. It wasn't until this past year that I started to really dedicate myself to the gym.     I was going through a pretty rough breakup and fell out of love with myself. I really didn't l

Back to Reality

All good things must come to an end, break has ended. While break was a week long, it still doesn't feel like we had enough time. From the moment I arrived at home, it had been "go go go." It feels like the only time I truly spend at home is when I'm sleeping each night. Let me take you through where my chaotic week has taken me, starting with Friday when I arrived.     Immediately after unpacking the car, I had to turn right around and pick my mom up from work. My mom had just gotten a new car, so she left it at the house for me to pick her up in. I was nervous driving because it was all so new I didn't want to ruin anything. After getting her from work, we ran to some of our favorite stores: HomeGoods, TJ Maxx and Marshalls. After window shopping and picking up some small items, we ended our night with a pizza from our favorite place, Carmela's. Saturday morning, my brother, mom, dad and myself went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because it was my brot
