Happy Homecoming!

It's crazy to think Ohio Northern University (ONU) has been around for 150 years! With all those alumni means an amazing homecoming weekend. Homecoming weekend is full of different activities and events for alumni and current students to attend. Some of the events held are the alumni soccer games, alumni lacrosse games, homecoming parade, football game and many more. I chose to live-tweet this year's homecoming parade as I was on one of the floats in the parade.
My sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA), designed a float for the parade based around our philanthropy, Breast Cancer Awareness and Education. Our float was decked out in pink as we rode the streets of Ada. On the back of our float hung our homecoming banner which was entered into a contest being judged at the football game. Making the banner myself, I was very proud of how it turned out and am excited to say we won first place! Riding around on the float was a fun experience, especially since this was the first in-person parade in two years due to COVID-19. There was a great turnout this year, not only of ONU alumni, but also the Ada community. After the parade had concluded, we held a luncheon for any ZTA alumni who returned and got to revisit the house and meet the new members. It was awesome seeing older alumni with their families, reminiscing on their ZTA experience. As the luncheon ended, the football game was starting. At the football game the banner winners were announced, as well as the Homecoming Royalty. Hearing that we had won the banner really made my day because I had put so much work into it and our prize money can now go toward our philanthropy.
Although the day ended in rain, it was a beautiful first half of the day for all the activities. Homecoming weekend is always such a fun time for everyone and makes me excited to become an alumna. Coming back as an alumni must be such a different experience I can't wait to have. 1. Hey Hallie first I would like to say great blog. I am also into greek life myself. I am currently apart of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and i love my greek letters. This Homecoming, a bunch of our alumni came through and had a bunch of stories they told us about their pledging process and house stories. Feels great to rep your letters and to let everyone know about your greek life.

T-Swift Year!

This past weekend, I officially had my last birthday in college. I turned 22 years old this past Friday. While this isn't a milestone birthday like turning 18 or 21, I still wanted to make it memorable. Lucky for me, with my birthday falling on a Friday I had the whole weekend to celebrate.     Friday's typically are very relaxed for me in general because I don't have classes. I woke up to all my family members texting me wishing me a happy birthday. I started the day off by getting ready to go to the gym. I've made going to the gym a big priority in my life. Not only because it helps me feel good about myself, but also because it's something I enjoy. It's always nice going to the gym early in the morning because it's usually empty or only has a few people in it. Luck was on my side because I had an empty gym all to myself. I went about my workout and then headed home to get ready for work. I know what you're thinking, "Hallie, why would you go

Gym Grind

I've never been one to actually workout. All my life, I've been involved with athletics, whether it be basketball, volleyball or cheer, I was always active growing up. Once sports started to get more serious, I decided to stick with volleyball during my time in high school. With summer conditioning, open gym and summer leagues, it's fair to say I was in great shape for my age. Come senior year, I injured my back while playing and was told to stop playing in order for it to heal properly. Deciding to stop playing was one of the hardest decisions I had to make, but I knew if I wanted to continue being active at all I should listen to the doctors and put a pause on my activities. Since then, I tried to stay active in a variety of ways, from walking around campus to running in the gym. It wasn't until this past year that I started to really dedicate myself to the gym.     I was going through a pretty rough breakup and fell out of love with myself. I really didn't l

Back to Reality

All good things must come to an end, break has ended. While break was a week long, it still doesn't feel like we had enough time. From the moment I arrived at home, it had been "go go go." It feels like the only time I truly spend at home is when I'm sleeping each night. Let me take you through where my chaotic week has taken me, starting with Friday when I arrived.     Immediately after unpacking the car, I had to turn right around and pick my mom up from work. My mom had just gotten a new car, so she left it at the house for me to pick her up in. I was nervous driving because it was all so new I didn't want to ruin anything. After getting her from work, we ran to some of our favorite stores: HomeGoods, TJ Maxx and Marshalls. After window shopping and picking up some small items, we ended our night with a pizza from our favorite place, Carmela's. Saturday morning, my brother, mom, dad and myself went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because it was my brot
