Chapter 8 revolves around marketing with Pinterest. To the blind eye, Pinterest can be a very confusing platform many don't know how to properly work. However, it has not been a dominated platform by businesses. Pinterest is the perfect platform for businesses looking to grow a specific target audience. Typically, Pinterest is used by women ages 18 to 35 for creative ideas and DIY projects. Pinterest has content strategies such as pinning consistently and at optimal times, using high-quality visuals, focusing on descriptions, showcasing user-generated content and many more.
For brands, it's recommended to pin around five to 30 times per day. However, if a brand doesn't have the time to pin the recommended number per day, they should try to post as often as they can within their free time. Weekends tend to be the most optimal times to pin, as it's when most people have more free time to browse the platform. When browsing the platform, consumers are not just looking for consistent pinning. They want high-quality visuals. Pinterest is known as a visual platform, meaning companies need to utilize this and post high-quality visuals. Being a visually oriented platform, businesses should try new creative ways to display their brand and products. While visuals are great to show a product, descriptions are needed as well. Using keywords related to the visual helps "Pinners" search the platform for what they are looking for. Not only having keywords, but also adding a call-to-action encourages Pinners to either save the pin or even follow to the website. Another way brands can have more interaction with consumers is to create group boards. This allows for other users to contribute to the board and add visuals which include the brand. The only negative to this feature is for the brand, as it needs to be monitoring the page to make sure all proper etiquette is being followed.
While Pinterest can seem tricky, businesses can work out the kinks to run a successful page. Imagery is huge for brands to grow, which is all Pinterest is about. Chapter 8 continues about Pinterest's components and its numbers. Stay tuned for next week to help grow your social media platforms!
That's kind of crazy that brands should pin five to 30 times per day. I feel like I would run out of content very quickly. I have never used Pinterest before, so maybe it is more reasonable than I am thinking, but having someone post 30 things that I have to see seems like it could get irritating quickly. It is good that as low as five is okay, though, since a minimum of 210 pins a week would be crazy!
