TikTok Content Strategies

TikTok took the world by storm during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and has been growing ever since. Since TikTok is a newer platform, many businesses have not yet stacked their claim on the platform. A "tiktok" video consists of a short video clip, ranging from dancing videos to acting videos to funny videos. There are a few tactics businesses can use to stand out from others on TikTok, including leveraging TikTok's business creative hub, creating engaging videos, creating dynamic captions, using hashtags and taking advantage of music and sounds.
TikTok's Business Creative Hub is a newer feature they launched to help businesses by offering tips and tricks, creative guidance with creating engaging TikTok videos and the best practices. There are three curate feeds of trending content available for businesses: trending business, engaging business and trending community. Businesses can utilize this new feature to get the most engagements on their posts. In order to pull engagements on videos, businesses need to capture the target market's attention. Chapter 8 says, "videos with the highest click-through rate highlight their key message or product within the first three seconds of the video (TikTok)." This just shows how important it is to get to the point and show us what you've got. With all good videos come good captions, which can make or break a video. There are limited characters available, so businesses need to really utilize this space to capture the audience's attention. Some engaging captions could be asking questions, teasing the audience or asking to leave comments. Along with captions comes another important tool, hashtags. The perfect way to get your name out there is through captions. Every time a brand posts using their hashtag, they increase their chances of getting viewed. While this may all seem repetitive from the other platforms we've looked at, TikTok is unique by engaging in music and sounds. Trending sounds and music can be an added benefit for brands to increase engagement. There are new and trending sounds appearing every day on TikTok and brands can go through to find the one which fits them most. Businesses should be trying to tell a story when they film a TikTok.
Although still new to the game, I believe TikTok will be the next big thing in terms of business awareness. This generation can spend hours on TikTok. If you follow these tactics, you might just see results you didn't think were possible. What will we learn next? Well you'll just have to come back next week and learn more!

  1. I believe Tiktok can be a gamechanger for business promoting awareness. I scroll through Tiktok for hours on end each day and I am sure many other people do as well. Business can use this to their advantage by advertising more on the app and therefore causing more people to be aware of what the business has to offer.

T-Swift Year!

This past weekend, I officially had my last birthday in college. I turned 22 years old this past Friday. While this isn't a milestone birthday like turning 18 or 21, I still wanted to make it memorable. Lucky for me, with my birthday falling on a Friday I had the whole weekend to celebrate.     Friday's typically are very relaxed for me in general because I don't have classes. I woke up to all my family members texting me wishing me a happy birthday. I started the day off by getting ready to go to the gym. I've made going to the gym a big priority in my life. Not only because it helps me feel good about myself, but also because it's something I enjoy. It's always nice going to the gym early in the morning because it's usually empty or only has a few people in it. Luck was on my side because I had an empty gym all to myself. I went about my workout and then headed home to get ready for work. I know what you're thinking, "Hallie, why would you go

Gym Grind

I've never been one to actually workout. All my life, I've been involved with athletics, whether it be basketball, volleyball or cheer, I was always active growing up. Once sports started to get more serious, I decided to stick with volleyball during my time in high school. With summer conditioning, open gym and summer leagues, it's fair to say I was in great shape for my age. Come senior year, I injured my back while playing and was told to stop playing in order for it to heal properly. Deciding to stop playing was one of the hardest decisions I had to make, but I knew if I wanted to continue being active at all I should listen to the doctors and put a pause on my activities. Since then, I tried to stay active in a variety of ways, from walking around campus to running in the gym. It wasn't until this past year that I started to really dedicate myself to the gym.     I was going through a pretty rough breakup and fell out of love with myself. I really didn't l

Back to Reality

All good things must come to an end, break has ended. While break was a week long, it still doesn't feel like we had enough time. From the moment I arrived at home, it had been "go go go." It feels like the only time I truly spend at home is when I'm sleeping each night. Let me take you through where my chaotic week has taken me, starting with Friday when I arrived.     Immediately after unpacking the car, I had to turn right around and pick my mom up from work. My mom had just gotten a new car, so she left it at the house for me to pick her up in. I was nervous driving because it was all so new I didn't want to ruin anything. After getting her from work, we ran to some of our favorite stores: HomeGoods, TJ Maxx and Marshalls. After window shopping and picking up some small items, we ended our night with a pizza from our favorite place, Carmela's. Saturday morning, my brother, mom, dad and myself went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because it was my brot
