Social Media Effects on Body Image Podcast!

For my social media course this week, we were challenged with creating a podcast on any social media issue of our choosing. I decided I wanted to dive deeper into the effects of social media on body image. Personally, social media has affected me on my own body image. I don't think I'll ever be able to go on a social media platform without comparing myself to the women in the posts. By taking a deeper look into this issue, I learned I'm not the only one feeling this way. Before I started my research, I had to go about setting up a podcast profile.

I have never made a podcast before, so this was a very new experience for me. I like to consider myself "tech-savvy", but in reality I know nothing. The hardest part for me was perfecting my recording. I had a total of 13 takes before I was able to have a good take. Podcasting is a great way to get a foot in the door, not only as an influencer, but also for businesses. I feel like podcasts draw more appeal to people because it's almost like the one hosting the podcast is talking directly to the one listening. I give props to all those who consistently run podcasts because there is a lot of work involved. While I don't have the skills for crazy gimmicks, I still tried my best with my added music. Like I had mentioned earlier, my podcast was about social media and its effect on body image. Being able to research this topic meant a lot to me. Sharing the information through a podcast made it seem like I was just talking to myself, but I liked the experience. Podcasts can be very relaxing. I know plenty of people who have certain podcasts they listen to while they work out rather than listening to music. I could never be one of those people.
Now I don't want to spoil the podcast for you, so you can find the link here! I'm not sure if I will be going into the podcasting industry, but it was fun to step out of my comfort zone and give it a try. I definitely recommend giving podcasting a try, who knows, you may earn a new skill. If not, it's still nice to give something new a try and show your appreciation for the talent. Be on the lookout for my next blog launching my podcasting career! Just kidding, by stay tuned for next week's blog.

Until next time XOXO,

Hallie

  1. Hallie, I loved how you talked about the body image part of social media. That was a big part of my podcast also, because I feel as if social media can create false narratives of things and can make it seem like people have flawless lives. Your podcast was great too!

  2. Hallie, I really enjoyed listening to your podcast about body image. I think that social media is creating this unrealistic way of thinking of how people have to look. I agree that I really like sharing information through a podcast because it was nice to talk about the issues I was think.

T-Swift Year!

This past weekend, I officially had my last birthday in college. I turned 22 years old this past Friday. While this isn't a milestone birthday like turning 18 or 21, I still wanted to make it memorable. Lucky for me, with my birthday falling on a Friday I had the whole weekend to celebrate.     Friday's typically are very relaxed for me in general because I don't have classes. I woke up to all my family members texting me wishing me a happy birthday. I started the day off by getting ready to go to the gym. I've made going to the gym a big priority in my life. Not only because it helps me feel good about myself, but also because it's something I enjoy. It's always nice going to the gym early in the morning because it's usually empty or only has a few people in it. Luck was on my side because I had an empty gym all to myself. I went about my workout and then headed home to get ready for work. I know what you're thinking, "Hallie, why would you go

Gym Grind

I've never been one to actually workout. All my life, I've been involved with athletics, whether it be basketball, volleyball or cheer, I was always active growing up. Once sports started to get more serious, I decided to stick with volleyball during my time in high school. With summer conditioning, open gym and summer leagues, it's fair to say I was in great shape for my age. Come senior year, I injured my back while playing and was told to stop playing in order for it to heal properly. Deciding to stop playing was one of the hardest decisions I had to make, but I knew if I wanted to continue being active at all I should listen to the doctors and put a pause on my activities. Since then, I tried to stay active in a variety of ways, from walking around campus to running in the gym. It wasn't until this past year that I started to really dedicate myself to the gym.     I was going through a pretty rough breakup and fell out of love with myself. I really didn't l

Back to Reality

All good things must come to an end, break has ended. While break was a week long, it still doesn't feel like we had enough time. From the moment I arrived at home, it had been "go go go." It feels like the only time I truly spend at home is when I'm sleeping each night. Let me take you through where my chaotic week has taken me, starting with Friday when I arrived.     Immediately after unpacking the car, I had to turn right around and pick my mom up from work. My mom had just gotten a new car, so she left it at the house for me to pick her up in. I was nervous driving because it was all so new I didn't want to ruin anything. After getting her from work, we ran to some of our favorite stores: HomeGoods, TJ Maxx and Marshalls. After window shopping and picking up some small items, we ended our night with a pizza from our favorite place, Carmela's. Saturday morning, my brother, mom, dad and myself went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because it was my brot
