Birthday Weekend!

I've aged since the last time I've written a blog post. Now 21 years old and I feel no different. In my family, turning 21 is a big ordeal. Everyone assumes when you turn 21, you go straight to the bars. Well, in my family we go straight to the casino. I wouldn't say my family has any addiction to gambling, but more or so the buffet they get when they go. Since my birthday occurred once I returned to school, my family has already scheduled an outing to the casino the first day I come home.
I really had no plans for what I was going to do on my birthday, as long as I got my free Starbucks drink I was OK. Having a birthday during the week is a little boring because not many people want to do stuff with classes the next day. I honestly felt the same way, I almost wanted to hold off on celebrating for one more day so it was just over the weekend, but I'm glad I didn't. I woke up Thursday to my door decorated by my roommate and my gifts from my mom laid out for me. Unfortunately, I had to go to one class that morning before any of the festivities could begin, but after I was free to do what I pleased. After getting back from class, I FaceTimed my mom and opened all my gifts with her and she did great. Some things I loved in particular were my Kendra Scott necklace and my AirPod Pros. Once all the gifts were done, I enjoyed lunch made by my boyfriend and relaxed. Since it was a Thursday, most of my friends had classes throughout the day, so I had to wait until later for us to celebrate. Being in Ada, there's not many places to go for a drink besides Tavern 101 and John and Toni's. A lot of my friends are already 21, so they've become regulars at both locations.

We started the night with dinner at Tavern 101 and I got a kid's chicken tender meal, very adult of me. Once dinner was over, we made our way over to John and Toni's. Since I had just taken my picture for my license, I didn't have the real card with me, so I had to show my paper wherever I went. It was odd at first, but everyone laughed about how I just couldn't wait to go out. After spending time with my friends and having my drinks bought by townies, we all decided to turn in for the night since we all had classes the next morning. Needless to say, I didn't make it to my morning classes. I had a great time with all of my friends, so I'd say my twenty-first was a success.

Until next time XOXO,

Hallie

T-Swift Year!

This past weekend, I officially had my last birthday in college. I turned 22 years old this past Friday. While this isn't a milestone birthday like turning 18 or 21, I still wanted to make it memorable. Lucky for me, with my birthday falling on a Friday I had the whole weekend to celebrate.     Friday's typically are very relaxed for me in general because I don't have classes. I woke up to all my family members texting me wishing me a happy birthday. I started the day off by getting ready to go to the gym. I've made going to the gym a big priority in my life. Not only because it helps me feel good about myself, but also because it's something I enjoy. It's always nice going to the gym early in the morning because it's usually empty or only has a few people in it. Luck was on my side because I had an empty gym all to myself. I went about my workout and then headed home to get ready for work. I know what you're thinking, "Hallie, why would you go

Gym Grind

I've never been one to actually workout. All my life, I've been involved with athletics, whether it be basketball, volleyball or cheer, I was always active growing up. Once sports started to get more serious, I decided to stick with volleyball during my time in high school. With summer conditioning, open gym and summer leagues, it's fair to say I was in great shape for my age. Come senior year, I injured my back while playing and was told to stop playing in order for it to heal properly. Deciding to stop playing was one of the hardest decisions I had to make, but I knew if I wanted to continue being active at all I should listen to the doctors and put a pause on my activities. Since then, I tried to stay active in a variety of ways, from walking around campus to running in the gym. It wasn't until this past year that I started to really dedicate myself to the gym.     I was going through a pretty rough breakup and fell out of love with myself. I really didn't l

Back to Reality

All good things must come to an end, break has ended. While break was a week long, it still doesn't feel like we had enough time. From the moment I arrived at home, it had been "go go go." It feels like the only time I truly spend at home is when I'm sleeping each night. Let me take you through where my chaotic week has taken me, starting with Friday when I arrived.     Immediately after unpacking the car, I had to turn right around and pick my mom up from work. My mom had just gotten a new car, so she left it at the house for me to pick her up in. I was nervous driving because it was all so new I didn't want to ruin anything. After getting her from work, we ran to some of our favorite stores: HomeGoods, TJ Maxx and Marshalls. After window shopping and picking up some small items, we ended our night with a pizza from our favorite place, Carmela's. Saturday morning, my brother, mom, dad and myself went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because it was my brot
