Back in Business

It seems like summer went away in the blink of an eye and we are back at school. This summer I returned for my second season of working with the now Cleveland Guardians. Just hearing me say that one may think I had this super fun job working with a Major League Baseball team, however, my job was not as spontaneous as one may think. I worked in the Kids Clubhouse (KCH) department of the Cleveland Guardians. The KCH is a fun-zone for families to enjoy while still in the ballpark to enjoy the game. I met some great people and hope to return to the stadium next season in a different department. I worked almost every game the entire summer, even leading up to the night before I left to move back to campus. Moving back to campus for my senior year was filled with many mixed emotions. I was excited to return to campus and see all my friends, but also sad to start my last year of college. Going into the real world is a scary thing, so I want to prolong that as much as I possibly can.

Luckily for me, to help keep me busy and not thinking about my future, I have loaded my schedule as much as I could. My position as the vice president of recruitment on the Panhellenic Council keeps me very for the first month of the school year. My role is to facilitate and run the recruitment process across the entire panhellenic community in hopes to gain new members in each of our four chapters. This requires me to hold different events to help spread the word about Greek life on Ohio Northern's campus. Just this past Sunday, I held the first recruitment event "Greekapalooza." Greekapalooza is a very casual event for those interested in Greek life to come out and learn from each of our chapters. This year's event had a great turn out and really gave me hope for a successful recruitment season. Our next upcoming event is our "Ice Cream Social." During this event each of the chapter's come out and talk about their financials to give interested girls full transparency about what each chapter entails. After this event I only have one more before official recruitment rounds begin.

Recruitment aside, I have recently accepted an internship position with the Claude W. Pettit Law School here at ONU. I have been added to the Law Admissions team as their marketing and social media intern. I was super excited to take on this position. While our school's law program is known across the nation, their social media pages are not on the same level. I definitely have my work cut out for me, but I am ready for the challenge the law school holds. With work, class and extracurriculars, my time is booked. Hopefully with my busy schedule my semester will drag on so I can put off thinking about my future a little longer.

Until next time XOXO,

Hallie

  2. Hallie, I am right there with you freaking out about what comes next after senior year. These
past 3 years have flown by so quickly! It is crazy to think it is nearly over. I certainly have a
similar strategy of staying busy as you already know with my role as Vice President of
Membership for Delta Zeta! I’m greatly looking forward to recruitment and meeting all our new sisters here in a month! Best of luck on everything! Remember to take a break when you can.

T-Swift Year!

This past weekend, I officially had my last birthday in college. I turned 22 years old this past Friday. While this isn't a milestone birthday like turning 18 or 21, I still wanted to make it memorable. Lucky for me, with my birthday falling on a Friday I had the whole weekend to celebrate.     Friday's typically are very relaxed for me in general because I don't have classes. I woke up to all my family members texting me wishing me a happy birthday. I started the day off by getting ready to go to the gym. I've made going to the gym a big priority in my life. Not only because it helps me feel good about myself, but also because it's something I enjoy. It's always nice going to the gym early in the morning because it's usually empty or only has a few people in it. Luck was on my side because I had an empty gym all to myself. I went about my workout and then headed home to get ready for work. I know what you're thinking, "Hallie, why would you go

Gym Grind

I've never been one to actually workout. All my life, I've been involved with athletics, whether it be basketball, volleyball or cheer, I was always active growing up. Once sports started to get more serious, I decided to stick with volleyball during my time in high school. With summer conditioning, open gym and summer leagues, it's fair to say I was in great shape for my age. Come senior year, I injured my back while playing and was told to stop playing in order for it to heal properly. Deciding to stop playing was one of the hardest decisions I had to make, but I knew if I wanted to continue being active at all I should listen to the doctors and put a pause on my activities. Since then, I tried to stay active in a variety of ways, from walking around campus to running in the gym. It wasn't until this past year that I started to really dedicate myself to the gym.     I was going through a pretty rough breakup and fell out of love with myself. I really didn't l

Back to Reality

All good things must come to an end, break has ended. While break was a week long, it still doesn't feel like we had enough time. From the moment I arrived at home, it had been "go go go." It feels like the only time I truly spend at home is when I'm sleeping each night. Let me take you through where my chaotic week has taken me, starting with Friday when I arrived.     Immediately after unpacking the car, I had to turn right around and pick my mom up from work. My mom had just gotten a new car, so she left it at the house for me to pick her up in. I was nervous driving because it was all so new I didn't want to ruin anything. After getting her from work, we ran to some of our favorite stores: HomeGoods, TJ Maxx and Marshalls. After window shopping and picking up some small items, we ended our night with a pizza from our favorite place, Carmela's. Saturday morning, my brother, mom, dad and myself went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because it was my brot
