College Life Update: Week 2

The beloved syllabus week has officially ended, and we are now in our second week of classes. Professors are kicking things into high gear with actual class material. This semester I am in five classes: International Short Stories, Organizational Behavior, Social Media Strategies and Campaigns, Advanced Business Analytics and Capstone. While five classes are not the end of the world, it can become quite stressful when all five classes are on the same days. I created my schedule last spring to only have classes Tuesdays and Thursdays so that I could essentially have long weekends every weekend. You may be thinking, "But you have Monday, Wednesday and Friday free how is that stressful?" Well, my Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are taken up from my internship with the Law school. So, while I may not be stressed with class, I may be stressed my internship. In the free time I do find for myself, I start to stress over my leadership role as the VP of Recruitment on the Panhellenic Council.
The temptation to just take a nap and let my "senioritis" fully sink in is very much there, however, it is only week two. Normally when I start to get super stressed from school, I start to take days to myself where I don't have to think about it. So, I have decided to go home for Labor Day Weekend. In the previous years, I have never gone home for Labor Day because the long drive home and back was never worth the short trip. In a way, I don't want to go home because I want to cherish every weekend with my friends before the year is up, but due to my last-minute packing to move in, I forget half of my stuff, so this trip will be the time I can finally get the rest of my things. Not only will I be gathering my missing belongings, I also will be working three days at my MLB job. With rent coming due, I need all the money I can get. I'm actually really excited to work there again because I have never worked during the slower months of baseball, I have always worked in the dead of summer when every night was packed. Working when I go home will be nice, but I will definitely enjoy being back with my family for the short period.
My mom and I are seriously best friends. All summer we would run around to different stores together and even took a few last-minute trips to Columbus for IKEA. Even though I am only home for a short time, I know my mom is excited and already has all of our time planned together. I still need to make my list of all my belongings so when I go home, I do not forget them for a second time around. Like I said, my senioritis is slowly creeping in and it's ready to take over my entire life, even a simple little list.

Until next time XOXO,

Hallie

  1. Senioritis is creeping up on all of us slowly but surely. I also love spending quality time with my mom, she's the best!

T-Swift Year!

This past weekend, I officially had my last birthday in college. I turned 22 years old this past Friday. While this isn't a milestone birthday like turning 18 or 21, I still wanted to make it memorable. Lucky for me, with my birthday falling on a Friday I had the whole weekend to celebrate.     Friday's typically are very relaxed for me in general because I don't have classes. I woke up to all my family members texting me wishing me a happy birthday. I started the day off by getting ready to go to the gym. I've made going to the gym a big priority in my life. Not only because it helps me feel good about myself, but also because it's something I enjoy. It's always nice going to the gym early in the morning because it's usually empty or only has a few people in it. Luck was on my side because I had an empty gym all to myself. I went about my workout and then headed home to get ready for work. I know what you're thinking, "Hallie, why would you go

Gym Grind

I've never been one to actually workout. All my life, I've been involved with athletics, whether it be basketball, volleyball or cheer, I was always active growing up. Once sports started to get more serious, I decided to stick with volleyball during my time in high school. With summer conditioning, open gym and summer leagues, it's fair to say I was in great shape for my age. Come senior year, I injured my back while playing and was told to stop playing in order for it to heal properly. Deciding to stop playing was one of the hardest decisions I had to make, but I knew if I wanted to continue being active at all I should listen to the doctors and put a pause on my activities. Since then, I tried to stay active in a variety of ways, from walking around campus to running in the gym. It wasn't until this past year that I started to really dedicate myself to the gym.     I was going through a pretty rough breakup and fell out of love with myself. I really didn't l

Back to Reality

All good things must come to an end, break has ended. While break was a week long, it still doesn't feel like we had enough time. From the moment I arrived at home, it had been "go go go." It feels like the only time I truly spend at home is when I'm sleeping each night. Let me take you through where my chaotic week has taken me, starting with Friday when I arrived.     Immediately after unpacking the car, I had to turn right around and pick my mom up from work. My mom had just gotten a new car, so she left it at the house for me to pick her up in. I was nervous driving because it was all so new I didn't want to ruin anything. After getting her from work, we ran to some of our favorite stores: HomeGoods, TJ Maxx and Marshalls. After window shopping and picking up some small items, we ended our night with a pizza from our favorite place, Carmela's. Saturday morning, my brother, mom, dad and myself went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because it was my brot
