If you skipped over the title of this blog, you missed the entire purpose of this blog. Yesterday, I began to lay out my week because I knew it was going to be filled. Monday is completely filled with work and night meetings. These night meetings pertain to my position on the Panhellenic Council as the Vice President of Recruitment. This weekend is the start of our official Formal Recruitment rounds. As the person in charge of putting on this weekend long event, I have many fine details I need to figure out before Thursday. Not only is my day filled with work and meetings on Mondays, but I always have an assignment due by midnight for my International Short Stories course. Typically, I would work ahead to get it done, however, the professor doesn't release the assignment until the day before, so it doesn't leave me much time. After I do this assignment, my school work is far from over. Tuesday, I have an exam in my Organizational Behavior course. I'm going to let you in on a little secret, I have no idea what's even on. So, after I finish my assignment, all I will be doing is studying. Tuesday's are usually taken up fully by my classes since they run from morning until mid-afternoon.
Once Tuesday is over, the fun begins. Wednesday I usually work, but I have decided I'm not going to go in since I will be finishing up any last-minute details for recruitment. Wednesday morning will consist of a quick capstone meeting and then the rest of the day will be reserved for recruitment. I like to say my recruitment hat only stays on from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., like a typically day job, however, starting Wednesday my hat will remain on for 24 hours. I need to be available at all times in case anyone has any questions for me. This means I have to keep the sound on my phone on at all times, which I cannot stand. Wednesday night is when the registration closes, but then it's time to put together all of the schedules for the girls going through recruitment. From Thursday until Sunday, I will turn my full sorority girl mode on. With making sure everything goes well, I will be running around like crazy. Luckily, I have an amazing support team behind me helping me along the way and encouraging me throughout the process. It's moments like this which make me look back on my time in Greek life and realize how grateful I am for this experience.
Greek life is infamous for using the saying "find your home away from home." I can honestly say Greek life has brought me some of my favorite people in this world and I truly don't know if I would have found them without it. When my life gets stressful like it has this week, the people Greek life brought me are the ones helping me get through it. Although I am sad this is my last recruitment, I cannot wait for it to be over. After this weekend, I will be catching up on some much needed me time.
Until next time XOXO,
Hallie
Hallie, it sound like you have had a crazy week! I am so excited for recruitment and think you have done a really great job at keeping everything going right. Good luck with everything the rest of the week, I bet it will be amazing!
