Recruitment is Finally Over!

Last year, I was so excited for recruitment and was sad at how fast it went. This year, I couldn't be happier it's finally over. Being on the back end of recruitment, many people don't realize all the work going into things. I have been planning recruitment since last spring. All summer, I held meetings to go over recruitment logistics. With all the preparations held during the summer, one would think things would be smooth sailing once we returned to school, wrong.
Pretty much anything you could think of going wrong went wrong with recruitment rounds. The first round, Philanthropy, was definitely the toughest round. We had 15 girls who had to be fast movers through rounds. Fast movers are people who had to show up late to rounds and have condensed schedules so they could still see each house. We tried to prepare as much as possible when planning recruitment for fast movers, but nothing could have prepared us for how Thursday night ran. I felt as if I was running around with my head cut off. Our team worked as best as we could to get girls into houses accordingly, but it didn't always work out. After such a hectic first night, I was scared to see how the second night would go. However, luckily it went fairly well, besides a few girls dropping from the process. The final night also had very little hiccups which was a relief. The final night started earlier than the previous two so it was nice to be done earlier. However, since I run part of the behind-the-scenes work, I had to still stay later so things could wrap up smoothly. Ending with a late night and an early morning the next day did not do good things for me.
I was so exhausted the following morning, I truly didn't think my alarm went off to wake up, I simple thought I woke up in the middle of the night. After trudging out of bed, I got myself all ready for Bid Day, well as ready as I could be as a Rho Gamma. Since I was disaffiliated, I couldn't dress in my full Bid Day attire until I was revealed back to my chapter. Fast forward to the Bid Day activities, it was so much fun getting to be the one to hype everyone up before letting the new members run home. It was super rewarding getting to see everyone so happy with their new chapters. While there were a few bumps along the way, I think it helped to make the recruitment experience better. It was fun while it lasted, but I'm so excited to not think about recruitment for a long time. Now I'm back with my Zeta sisters, I feel like my life can start to get back to normal.

Until next time XOXO,

Hallie

  2. Hallie! I had no idea how much work and time went into recruitment. I could never imagine going through all the stress from the hiccups, but I'm glad everything worked out! I love hearing about your sorority fiascos, mainly because I've never been a part of one. I hope to hear more about your adventures as a sister!

T-Swift Year!

This past weekend, I officially had my last birthday in college. I turned 22 years old this past Friday. While this isn't a milestone birthday like turning 18 or 21, I still wanted to make it memorable. Lucky for me, with my birthday falling on a Friday I had the whole weekend to celebrate.     Friday's typically are very relaxed for me in general because I don't have classes. I woke up to all my family members texting me wishing me a happy birthday. I started the day off by getting ready to go to the gym. I've made going to the gym a big priority in my life. Not only because it helps me feel good about myself, but also because it's something I enjoy. It's always nice going to the gym early in the morning because it's usually empty or only has a few people in it. Luck was on my side because I had an empty gym all to myself. I went about my workout and then headed home to get ready for work. I know what you're thinking, "Hallie, why would you go

Gym Grind

I've never been one to actually workout. All my life, I've been involved with athletics, whether it be basketball, volleyball or cheer, I was always active growing up. Once sports started to get more serious, I decided to stick with volleyball during my time in high school. With summer conditioning, open gym and summer leagues, it's fair to say I was in great shape for my age. Come senior year, I injured my back while playing and was told to stop playing in order for it to heal properly. Deciding to stop playing was one of the hardest decisions I had to make, but I knew if I wanted to continue being active at all I should listen to the doctors and put a pause on my activities. Since then, I tried to stay active in a variety of ways, from walking around campus to running in the gym. It wasn't until this past year that I started to really dedicate myself to the gym.     I was going through a pretty rough breakup and fell out of love with myself. I really didn't l

Back to Reality

All good things must come to an end, break has ended. While break was a week long, it still doesn't feel like we had enough time. From the moment I arrived at home, it had been "go go go." It feels like the only time I truly spend at home is when I'm sleeping each night. Let me take you through where my chaotic week has taken me, starting with Friday when I arrived.     Immediately after unpacking the car, I had to turn right around and pick my mom up from work. My mom had just gotten a new car, so she left it at the house for me to pick her up in. I was nervous driving because it was all so new I didn't want to ruin anything. After getting her from work, we ran to some of our favorite stores: HomeGoods, TJ Maxx and Marshalls. After window shopping and picking up some small items, we ended our night with a pizza from our favorite place, Carmela's. Saturday morning, my brother, mom, dad and myself went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because it was my brot
