Finally Fall Break

Fall Break took its good old-time getting here. After the month I've had, I'm ready to be home for a longer weekend. Before I can enjoy my break, I have a few tasks I need to get out of the way. After recruitment ended, I felt like I was playing a huge game of catch up with classes and work. I've been spending long nights at home and in the library trying to focus, but the only thought crossing my mind is Fall Break. Currently, I'm sitting in the library trying to get ahead on work, so I don't feel overwhelmed when I come back from break. If you couldn't guess, it's not going well. All this library trip has shown me is I have a lot more work than I anticipated. Not only do I have multiple assignments due before break, but plenty due once we return. My toxic trait definitely is pushing things too far back in my mind, so I don't stress about them, but then the due date arrives and I start to panic. Rather than talking about all the negatives of my school life, I want to highlight all of the things I have planned for break.

Every Fall Break when my mom comes to get me, we always take the longer route to get back home, looping us to Columbus. Unfortunately, there is no IKEA in Cleveland, so our closest one is Columbus. My mom and I love going to IKEA, especially during my first break. Around October is when IKEA starts to bring out their Christmas decorations. My mom loves to see all the new items getting brought out, she even will look up YouTube videos of other people scooping out the new arrivals to watch on the way down there. Besides IKEA, we always stop into two bakeries right around the corner to pick up some sweets on the way home. All in all, our Columbus excursion lasts about two to three hours. Even then as we start to make our way home, we tend to stop at the Tanger Outlets. Luckily, this weekend is supposed to be pretty warm, so it'll be nice getting to walk around. This is typically our last pit stop before making our way back to Cleveland. While Thursday will mainly consist of driving around, Friday and Saturday will mainly consist of me working. Now that the Guardians are in the postseason, I get to work when I'm home. However, my department closes down to transform into a media area, meaning I'll be working in a different department. I'm really nervous to because I don't know much about the ballpark outside of my department. I'm trying to look on the bright side because I will be making money.

After the all the driving and work is finally out of the way, I'll get to enjoy one of my favorite fall activities, going to Patterson's Fruit Farm. Similar to Sutter's in the Ada area, Patterson's is a cute pumpkin patch with all your fall necessities. My favorite thing to get when I go is their cinnamon doughnuts. I always end up bringing back a dozen to enjoy throughout the week. I don't want to spoil too much of the trip, you'll have to come back next week for that story.

Until next time XOXO,

Hallie

T-Swift Year!

This past weekend, I officially had my last birthday in college. I turned 22 years old this past Friday. While this isn't a milestone birthday like turning 18 or 21, I still wanted to make it memorable. Lucky for me, with my birthday falling on a Friday I had the whole weekend to celebrate.     Friday's typically are very relaxed for me in general because I don't have classes. I woke up to all my family members texting me wishing me a happy birthday. I started the day off by getting ready to go to the gym. I've made going to the gym a big priority in my life. Not only because it helps me feel good about myself, but also because it's something I enjoy. It's always nice going to the gym early in the morning because it's usually empty or only has a few people in it. Luck was on my side because I had an empty gym all to myself. I went about my workout and then headed home to get ready for work. I know what you're thinking, "Hallie, why would you go

Gym Grind

I've never been one to actually workout. All my life, I've been involved with athletics, whether it be basketball, volleyball or cheer, I was always active growing up. Once sports started to get more serious, I decided to stick with volleyball during my time in high school. With summer conditioning, open gym and summer leagues, it's fair to say I was in great shape for my age. Come senior year, I injured my back while playing and was told to stop playing in order for it to heal properly. Deciding to stop playing was one of the hardest decisions I had to make, but I knew if I wanted to continue being active at all I should listen to the doctors and put a pause on my activities. Since then, I tried to stay active in a variety of ways, from walking around campus to running in the gym. It wasn't until this past year that I started to really dedicate myself to the gym.     I was going through a pretty rough breakup and fell out of love with myself. I really didn't l

Back to Reality

All good things must come to an end, break has ended. While break was a week long, it still doesn't feel like we had enough time. From the moment I arrived at home, it had been "go go go." It feels like the only time I truly spend at home is when I'm sleeping each night. Let me take you through where my chaotic week has taken me, starting with Friday when I arrived.     Immediately after unpacking the car, I had to turn right around and pick my mom up from work. My mom had just gotten a new car, so she left it at the house for me to pick her up in. I was nervous driving because it was all so new I didn't want to ruin anything. After getting her from work, we ran to some of our favorite stores: HomeGoods, TJ Maxx and Marshalls. After window shopping and picking up some small items, we ended our night with a pizza from our favorite place, Carmela's. Saturday morning, my brother, mom, dad and myself went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because it was my brot
