Snapchat Content Strategies

Snapchat is a media platform not many businesses utilize for their benefit. Snapchat has a target market involving the younger generations, typically those 30 and under, so many businesses feel the need to not utilize this platform strictly based on the age range of its users. This leaves Snapchat to be a platform no one business has strictly dominated. Some strategies a business can utilize through Snapchat include posting short and fun content, posting during optimal times, telling a great story, holding Snapchat contests, having behind-the-scenes content and many more. Chapter 7 highlights some of these strategies, giving us a more in-depth understanding of them.     Due to Snapchat being a younger demographic-based platform, higher quality videos don't always attract the most viewers as one would think. Businesses should try posting short and fun "snaps" throughout their content to keep the attention of their viewers. According to the book, brands need to capita

Preference Round!

As the last round of recruitment starts, the process is coming to an end. After this round, each sorority will have an idea of who will be joining them as an official member. Preference round is done differently at every sorority. The consensus of preference round is to try and develop a deeper relationship with the potential new member (PNM). The PNM has talked to many girls throughout the recruitment process and created many bonds. On preference night, the PNM talks to one sister of the sorority for the entire round, someone who they had a strong connection with. Preference round is the most serious and intimate setting of the three rounds.     My preference night last year was something I will never forget. When I was stuck deciding between two sororities, preference night is what helped me clearly decide where I belonged. I could see myself in both sororities, I was deciding between, but I struggled trying to decide. Preference night is such an intimate setting which allows on

Twitter Content Strategies

Twitter is a great platform for businesses to promote their brand. Like Instagram, Twitter also has many tactics to help a business's social media page thrive. These tactics include keeping posts short, having less promotions and more conversations, posting consistently and at optimal times, using Twitter lists and many more. Chapter 6 focuses not only on content strategies for Twitter, but also advertising with Twitter and even success stories.     With tweets, businesses should try and avoid extensive emphasis on promoting products or services. To engage a business' followers, they should create more discussion tweets, rather than direct tweets. This allows for open-ended responses, allowing the business to engage with their followers on a more personal level. Trending topics, company culture and customer stories are great things to tweet about to keep followers involved. While wanting to create conversation with their followers, businesses should keep in mind the post

Sisterhood Round!

Day Two of sorority recruitment means Sisterhood Round is here! Sisterhood is not something that can be distinctly classified. For each sorority, sisterhood looks and acts differently. For Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA), we pride ourselves on being not only friends or family, but sometimes all a sister has. We support everyone in our sisterhood, whether that be going to their sporting events or hyping them up when they ace their physics exam. We are each other's biggest cheerleaders when needed and this is what our sisterhood means to us.     On our programming council, we have a position strictly in charge of creating sisterhood events known as our Director of Sisterhood. At the three rounds of Sisterhood during recruitment, we had our Director of Sisterhood speak on what sisterhood means to her and explain some of the events she has planned for us. Some events we have done in the past include "Movie Night,""Galantine's Day" and "Game Night." Due to CO

Instagram Content Strategies

This week's reading involves Chapter 5 , "Marketing with Instagram." Section 8 specifically touches on certain content strategies involving Instagram. With all the evolving software, Instagram has been able to enhance their platform for not only the viewers, but also the users. Instagram has provided multiple tactics for businesses to utilize to help with follower involvement. These tactics include taking advantage of Instagram stories and live videos, leveraging IGTV, selling products with Instagram shopping, promoting limited releases and drops, using influencers, having account takeovers, using emojis and so much more.     If a business is looking to boost their sales, promoting limited releases and drops on Instagram is the way to do it. With the current events this past year, social media was the primary source for many businesses to grow. Some brands partnered with influencers to increase the desirability of their products. Influencers have more of an impact th

Philanthropy Round!

Welcome back everyone! Rounds have officially started and our chapter couldn't be more excited. The first round is Philanthropy. A philanthropy is a cause each sorority partners with and raises money for donation. For Alpha Xi Delta, this year their philanthropy is Kindly Hearts Campaign, assisting areas affected by COVID-19. Delta Zeta focuses their philanthropy with the Starkey Hearing Foundation, assisting countries around the globe with hearing aids and other necessities. For Kappa Alpha Theta, they focus their philanthropy on CASA, which helps rehabilitate and impact the lives of foster children. For my sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA), our philanthropy is Breast Cancer Awareness and Education. During this round of recruitment, potential new members have the opportunity to learn more about each of the sororities philanthropy's while meeting more of the sisters.     Our philanthropy partners up with Think Pink and the American Cancer Society, as well as the NFL. Components of a Facebook Post

Chapter 4  is all about marketing with Facebook. It touches on how to set up a Facebook page, building an audience and components of a Facebook post. Today, I will be discussing components of a Facebook post. There are some vital things businesses are failing to do when it comes to creating a Facebook post including text, a call-to-action link, photos, videos or gifs and hashtags. These can sometimes make or break one's Facebook presence, if not done properly.     Although it may not seem like a big deal, the length of one's text can determine if a reader stays with you or continues scrolling past your post. When writing a post, keeping it shorter is not necessarily a bad thing. If you continue to write a lengthy post, it may get cut off in the view of the reader, forcing them to have to click to read more and often many don't like to take the extra step. Short and simple is the best way to go, just not too short, ranging around 140 characters or less. One thing you ca

Open House!

Welcome back! Recruitment week has officially begun and I couldn't be more excited. Each of the sororities have put so much work into preparing for this week and we are all so excited for the potential new members (PNMs) to find their new homes. Kicking off the start of recruitment week is Open House. During Open House, PNMs are able to do a walkthrough of all four of the sororities houses. This is when the girls can go room by room to get a feel for the house and even just see the layout of everything.     As each group of PNMs arrive at the house, active members line up in wait to be paired off. As the girls enter the house, we introduced ourselves and led them into the TV room for a short presentation. During this presentation, the girls are given a very brief overview of finances involved, as well as any scholarship opportunities and expectations we abide by. After the short presentation, we take the girls on individual tours of the house, showing them all the bedrooms, as

Social Media Advertising

This week's chapter recap is on  C hapter 3  "Social Media Marketing Strategy and Social Media Advertising." In this chapter, 10 steps for a good social media marketing strategy are discussed, highlighting key subjects such as identifying a target audience, creating a distribution and content strategy as well as tracking, analyzing and tuning any fine details. Not only does this chapter include social media marketing strategies, but also the world of social media advertising, so let's dive deeper into this topic.     Social media advertising involves seven steps, selecting goals, selecting the target market, selecting platforms, selecting a budget, selecting the ad format, considering the ad funnel and developing the content. I believe the most important of the seven steps are selecting the target market, selecting platforms and selecting a budget. These three steps can potentially make or break one's goal of social media advertising. To properly select a tar
